
The Lady Lions finish the weekend as the State 4A champions by defeating Cherokee County 3-2 in the first game Saturday morning and 5-0 in the afternoon. The Lady Lions went undefeated in the playoffs this year.
Callie Pendley, Tori Pendley, Sydney Kiser and Holly Ward won All Tournament honors and Holly Ward won the Tournament MVP.
The Haleyville Lady Lions woke up this morning in Montgomery ready to play, starting off against Alabama Christian Academy at noon with a 3-0 win. With the win, the Lady Lions took a long break before meeting Bibb County at 7:00, squeaking out a 3-2 win to stay in the winners bracket.
Tomorrow’s game will be at 10:30am against Cherokee County, the team that beat the Lady Lions twice last week in Birmingham to win the region. Be sure to log on here tomorrow to watch the games live.

The Haleyville Lady Lions leave today headed south, arriving in Montgomery tonight, ready for the challenge of the state finals. Their first opponent is Alabama Christian Academy, at 12:00 pm noon Friday.

The Haleyville Lady Lions started their day early, having to be up and at the ball field at 6:00 am Saturday morning for their game against Cherokee County at 7:00. The Lady Lions got off to a slow start and gave up 5 runs in the first inning, eventually losing 0-5.
The next game was against Springville and the Lady Lions needed a win to advance to the state playoffs. The Lady Tigers scored 3 runs in the top of the first but the Lady Lions matched that in the bottom of the inning. The Lady Lions add to that score, defeating Springville 8-4, securing a trip to Montgomery.
After a short break, the Lady Lions had to play Cherokee County again for the region championship. After a strong start, the Lady Lions fell to the Lady Warriors 5-10. Both teams will start play in Montgomery on Friday, May 18th.
The Lady Lions will play the winner of the Corner vs Springville game at 11:30 today.
Update: Games are running a little behind schedule so expect about a 30 minute delay. Springville is leading Corner 4-0 in the fifth.
The Haleyville Lady Lions are in Birmingham this weekend playing for an invite to Montgomery next weekend. Friday morning started off with a 4-0 win over St Claire County, followed by a 1-0 win over Springville later that morning.
Saturday morning started with a very early 7:00 am game against number 1 ranked Cherokee County. The Lady Warriors jumped out with a 5 run first inning, turning out to be the last time either team would score.
The schedules here were changed due to the possibility of rain later today causing the Lady Lions to start much earlier this morning. Their second game has been moved up to 11:30 am. At this time, we do not know who their opponents will be.

The Haleyville Lady Lions travel to Liberty Park in Birmingham this Friday, May 11, to take on St Claire County in the first round of the Regional playoffs. The start time for that game is 8:00 AM with a second game later in the morning at 11:00 AM. The Haleyville Lions Baseball team’s season ended Friday with a loss to the Oneonta Redskins in the second round of the playoffs. The Lions had defeated the Corner Yellow Jackets to win their area and advance to the first round of the playoffs.
Once in the playoffs, Springville traveled to Haleyville for the first round and took the Lions to the third game in the series. Haleyville went on to win that series and advanced to the second round.
