Lions Defeat Warriors 38-28

The Haleyville Lions took on the Wilson Warriors for their first area game of the season and it turned into a high-scoring event.  Both teams went back and forth until halftime with the Lions trailing 18-20.

Besides the bands playing, fans also got to see the presentation of the championship rings to the Lady Lions Softball team, winning it all last season in Montgomery in 4A. Congratulations to the Lady Lions!

Late in the third quarter, Heath Self runs one in from the 14 yard line to put the Lions up 24-20.  Then with 10:25 left in the game, Self takes a hand off at the 15 yard line and passes it to Dakota Rushing who was wide open at the 5. With his score, the Lions go up 31-20. On Wilson’s next possession, the Warriors fumble. Rushing picks it up and runs it in from 33 yards out to put the Lions up 38-20.

Late in the game, the Warriors score again but Haleyville runs out the clock to win it 38-28.
