Homecoming was this week for Haleyville and the Lions came ready to play. No one was more prepared for the big game against the Priceville Bulldogs than Tanner Ivey. In the first quarter, Ivey connected with Ben Richards, Dakota Rushing and Heath Self before Dillon Posey ran in the Lions fourth touchdown. Priceville then scored on a long drive and returned an interception to end the quarter trailing Haleyville 28-14. In the second quarter, Self ran a touchdown in on 4th and goal, Priceville ran in a long run, Ivey found Matt Smith for a TD and Priceville scores on a long pass, all in just over 2 minutes. At halftime, the Lions lead the Bulldogs 42-28.
Once the second half got under way, Tanner Ivey went back to work, finding Brady Sherrill and Matt Smith for touchdown passes. At the end of the third quarter, with the score 56-28, Ivey came out of the game, having earned Lion of the Week with 496 passing yards and 6 touchdowns. Conner Kiser took over at quarterback and found the endzone with an 8 yard run for the Lions last score of the night. Afterwards, the Bulldogs scored on a safety and a touchdown run to end the game, making the final score 63-37.
The Lions travel to Rogers next week. Game time is 7:00pm.
